Secondary School Placement
As part of the middle school experience at Swain, our students and their families are guided through the process of selecting a secondary school for 9th-12th grades.
With the support of Karen Mitton, Director of External Relations, and Megan Franzyshen, Intermediate and Middle School Director, families receive specific, individualized information and advice – no matter what secondary school options they choose to explore
The conversation surrounding schools begins in sixth grade. Each spring we host a High School Fair, when representatives from more than 30 of the finest schools from Massachusetts to Virginia visit our campus, making themselves personally available to the attendees. These schools include local schools as well.

During the fall of eighth grade, the process becomes more individualized, as students and families meet with Swain administrators to review schools, discuss options, conduct mock interviews, and complete applications. Recognizing that the process is unique to each individual, Swain administrators routinely visit top secondary schools in order to learn about school culture and programs.
